AMINE GAS TREATING SOLUTIONS PROVIDED BY ETI

 

96in amine steel columnEngineering Technology, Inc. (ETI) provides treatment systems to process and remove acid gases, hydrogen sulfide and/or carbon dioxide, from natural gas. The process equipment consists of standalone vessels and skid-mounted modules. Amine treating consists of two operations, 1) absorption of the acid gas into the amine solution and 2) regeneration of the rich amine solution through heat and steam stripping. Regenerated amine is circulated back to the absorber.

 

The components of an amine gas treating plant include the contactor tower, flash tank, cross exchanger, particulate filter, charcoal filter, reboiler still column, reboiler, overhead condenser, condensate accumulator, reflux pump, booster pump, air cooler and injection pump.

 

REASONS FOR AMINE PRE-TREATMENT

500 GPM AMINE BOOSTER PUMP SKIDAcid gases must be removed from the process gas due to pipeline transmission or process requirements, cryogenic processes, or corrosion mitigation. In amine treating, the contactor operates in a counter-current fashion to absorb acid gases which are neutralized by the lean amine solution to generate an organic salt, which is regenerated. Depending upon the amine selected, these organic salts can be labile, metastable, or occasionally, heat stable. Sterically-hindered tertiary amines do not form heat stable salts and are normally preferred in amine treating. Primary and secondary amines are also used but can form heat stable salts, amides, ureas, carbamates, and oxazolidones and often require additional side-stream reclamation. Variables taken into account in the selection of the best amine are: stability, extraction efficiency, loading, side products, regenerability, foaming, decomposition, and cost.
